Deadline Date: January 27, 2026
The EU CERC Business Lab has launched a Call for Expressions of Interest (EoI) to select one organisation — referred to as a Circular Economy Business Support Organisation (CEBSO)— based in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, or Uganda, that provides business support services in the field of the circular economy.
The programme aims to improve the quality and relevance of circular economy services provided by selected organisations, enabling circular businesses to expand their market access, including participation in global value chains. At the same time, it seeks to enhance the operational capacity of these organisations to ensure effective and sustainable operations.
The support will be delivered in two phases. The first phase involves an organisational and capacity assessment, which includes a comprehensive review of the CEBSO’s operational strengths and areas for improvement, as well as an analysis of its knowledge base and the quality of services offered to circular businesses. This assessment will be conducted over a maximum of ten days through online and/or on-site exchanges with selected experts.
The second phase is a tailor-made capacity building programme based on the findings from the assessment. Lasting up to fifteen days, this phase will provide personalised coaching and support from sector-specific experts, focusing on circular economy business services and operational and financial capacity. The programme may include one-on-one coaching, targeted group sessions, self-paced learning activities, practical field exercises, and follow-up sessions to reinforce learning.
The programme is open to legal entities that are public entities, non-profit private organisations, or foundations acting as business support organisations. Applicants must be established in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, or Uganda, and demonstrate active involvement or clear willingness to develop expertise in the circular economy in priority sectors such as critical raw materials, bio-based materials, ICT and electronics, batteries, machinery and equipment, or buildings and construction.
Eligible organisations must also have at least three years of local expertise in providing quality business support services to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as initial experience supporting circular economy businesses. Applicants are required to provide audited financial statements for the two most recent years as part of their application.
This programme offers a valuable opportunity for CEBSOs in East Africa to enhance their capacity, expand the reach of their services, and contribute to the growth of circular economy businesses in the region.
