EIT Manufacturing “BoostUp! – Iberia 2024” Competiton (Portugal and Spain)

Is your business idea focused on helping companies achieve net zero targets? Is your company based in Portugal or Spain? If yes then BoostUp! IBERIA 2024 call is your opportunity to become an award-winning innovator in net zero technologies.

BoostUp! IBERIA 2024 is one of the competition series organised by EIT Manufacturing to identify and support promising startups. The purpose of the first Iberian edition, focus on “Net Zero Industry”, is to act as a catalyst for tangible, scalable innovations to reduce industrial carbon emissions. This startup competition aims to empower Iberian entrepreneurs by providing them with the knowledge, resources and networks necessary to play a pivotal role in the net zero transition.

Initially, the call is open to all Spanish and Portuguese startups working on net-zero technologies for Industry 4.0, with an early eligibility check and evaluation taking place in October. The shortlisted candidates will move on to the second phase and will have the opportunity to present their idea during an exciting in-person final event on 4 December in Porto, Portugal.

    • Prize awards: EUR 7 000 (1st), EUR 5 000 (2nd), EUR 3 000 (3rd)
  • On top of that, if you succeed in becoming one of the shortlisted finalists from the initial phase, EIT Manufacturing West will provide you with the dedicated support for a duration of two months, to help you achieve your goals.

  • Submissions need to address solutions in the realm of manufacturing technologies, in particular Net Zero in Industry 4.0 and fit, at least, one of the following technology domains:

    • CO2 Capture, Utilization & Storage/CO2 eq. Tracking
    • Computer Vision/Quality Control/Assurance

    • Data Analytics/AI/ML
    • Electronics and Semiconductors
    • Health and Safety
    • Logistics/Asset Tracking
    • Mixed and Extended Reality/VR/AR
    • Plastic and Metal components
    • Platform business/Marketplace
    • Prescriptive and predictive analytics
    • Production Planning/Flexible production systems
    • Recycling/Reuse/Remanufacturing
    • Robotics
    • Simulation/Digital Twins/Advanced Engineering Tools

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicants must meet the following conditions at the company level:
    • must be a spin-off, startup, and scaleup based in Portugal or Spain
    • must prove revenue traction (existing reference customers).
    • is not a Partner Member of EIT Manufacturing or a Linked Third Party of a Partner Member of EIT Manufacturing.
  • The applicants must meet the following conditions at the team level:
    • Be an entrepreneurial team, with a minimum of two members.
    • Team members must be residents of Portugal or Spain.
    • Each team or team member can submit only one application.
    • Gender equality and diversity in the team will be positively evaluated.
  • Individuals or companies that applied to the EIT Manufacturing BoostUp! 2020 competition, in the EIT Manufacturing BoostUp! 2021 RIS competition and in the BoostUp! 2022 and 2023 competitions are NOT eligible.
