The focus areas, of the Awards include promoting sport and physical activity as a means to support health, inclusion, inter-generational dialogue, volunteering, and peace across Europe, with activities that may take place in educational establishments, workplaces, non-formal learning environments, and local communities, as well as initiatives that help overcome barriers to participation for people with fewer opportunities, support inter-generational connections through sport and physical activity, address social challenges, empower disadvantaged groups, and foster community engagement through volunteering in sport. The funding for the #BeActive EU Sport Awards 2026 is set at €25,000.00.
The Awards aim to highlight and recognise sport-related initiatives that make a meaningful contribution to increasing physical activity across different settings. These initiatives are expected to encourage people of all ages to integrate movement into their daily lives, helping to build more active and healthier communities.
The #BeActive EU Sport Awards 2026 place strong emphasis on the link between regular physical activity and improved health outcomes, with a focus on prevention of cardiovascular diseases. They recognise the role of sport in transforming individuals’ lifestyles, improving workplace wellbeing, and strengthening community connections.
The Physical Activity category specifically honours organisations that have successfully implemented sport activities across education and training settings, non-formal learning environments, workplaces, or local communities. It highlights efforts that inspire participation at all levels and strengthen awareness of how regular physical activity contributes to better health and wellbeing, ultimately fostering a more active society.
The initiative also acknowledges the broader social impact of sport, including its ability to bring people together, empower communities, and support positive social change through structured and inclusive physical activity programmes.
