The #BeActive EU Sport Awards -Volunteering recognise and celebrate the achievements of sport organisations and stakeholders that successfully promote sport and physical activity across Europe.
The focus areas, objectives, priorities, and themes of the Awards include promoting sport and physical activity as a means to support health, inclusion, inter-generational dialogue, volunteering, and peace across Europe, with activities implemented in educational establishments, workplaces, and local communities, as well as initiatives aimed at overcoming barriers to sport participation for people with fewer opportunities, supporting inter-generational connections through sport and physical activity, addressing social challenges, empowering disadvantaged groups, and fostering community engagement through volunteering in sport.
The Volunteering category of the #BeActive EU Sport Awards 2026 recognises sport activities implemented by organisations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to sport through volunteer work. It highlights dedication, leadership, and the positive impact of volunteers in encouraging community engagement, inclusivity, and the development of sport at all levels.
This category celebrates organisations and individuals that show strong commitment to supporting and developing sport through volunteer efforts. It emphasises the important role volunteers play in shaping the future of sport and creating positive change within their communities.
The funding for the #BeActive EU Sport Awards 2026 is €25,000.00, supporting initiatives that strengthen volunteering in sport across eligible countries.
The Awards aim to give visibility to activities that promote volunteering in sport while encouraging community participation and engagement across Europe.
Eligibility requires applicants to be legal entities, including private or public bodies and international organisations, established in eligible countries such as EU Member States, overseas countries and territories, and non-EU countries associated with the Erasmus+ Programme or in ongoing association negotiations.
