Deadline Date: September 04, 2026
Epic MegaGrants is a funding program that invests in promising new projects that push real-time 3D development to new heights using Unreal Engine and related technologies.
The program supports game development, Unreal Editor for Fortnite Creative Islands, film, TV and live events, non-games industries including architecture, automotive, manufacturing, simulation, product design, advertising, VR/AR and more, education through research, educational curricula, course development and university programs, and tools and open source development that advance the real-time 3D ecosystem or enhance the capabilities of open source software using Unreal Engine.
Epic MegaGrants provides financial support to creators, developers, educators, and innovators working on exciting projects that use Unreal Engine or contribute to the 3D graphics ecosystem. The program is designed to help projects that may not otherwise have enough funding to reach their next stage of development while allowing recipients to retain ownership of their intellectual property and publish their work as they choose.
The average grant ranges from $5,000 to $75,000, with some exceptional projects receiving up to $150,000.
Game development projects should be beyond the idea or design phase and include at least a working prototype. Applicants are encouraged to provide a video demonstrating the prototype. The program also supports creators developing imaginative and innovative Fortnite Creative islands using Unreal Editor for Fortnite.
Projects in film, television, live events, and other industries that use Unreal Engine are also eligible. For more complex projects, detailed project plans and prototypes are expected. Educational submissions are accepted from degree-granting institutions and educators at those institutions.
Epic MegaGrants is intended for smaller teams, solo developers, and innovators. Eligible applicants include indie game developers, developers creating Unreal Editor for Fortnite experiences, teams transitioning projects from another engine to Unreal Engine, and creators working on tools, open source software, or other projects that advance the real-time 3D community.
