Arts Projects Grants support artists, creatives and the cultural sector to develop new work that encourages creative expression connected to local people, stories and place.
The grants aim to build awareness and knowledge of First Nations People’s culture and engage First Nations artists in leading project development or consultation, encourage cross artform and industry collaboration and partnerships for a vibrant arts and cultural ecosystem that supports local and municipal-wide creative endeavour, increase opportunities for community participation and diverse engagement through inclusive and accessible arts and cultural programs, celebrate local stories across the municipality through high-quality contemporary practice, support arts and cultural activities in diverse and non-traditional indoor and outdoor locations across the municipality, and enhance Geelong’s brand as a creative city.
Arts Projects Grants are designed to grow arts and culture in greater Geelong while supporting projects that strengthen creative expression and community connection. The program aligns with the goals of the City’s Arts and Cultural Strategy 2021–2031 and supports a wide range of creative activities.
Eligible activities may include visual arts and craft, music, performing arts, literature and writing, design, screen and media, digital media and creative technology, cultural heritage and collections, and community arts and cultural development.
There is a total grant pool of $100,000 available. Applicants may apply for funding of up to $10,000 for their project.
The grant is open to applicants whose primary practice is within the arts, creative and cultural sector. Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, unincorporated groups with an auspice, registered charitable organisations, businesses, and individuals operating as sole traders with an active ABN.
