Apply for Business ACCESS-Ability Grant Program (Canada)

The Business ACCESS-Ability Grant Program provides financial support to businesses to improve accessibility and foster inclusive environments for employees and customers with disabilities. Grants cover up to two-thirds of the eligible costs, with a maximum funding limit of $50,000 per project. The program aligns with Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Act and the province’s commitment to achieving an Accessible Nova Scotia by 2030 through initiatives such as “Access by Design.”

Businesses interested in applying must first review the program guidelines and discuss their proposed project with a Business ACCESS-Ability program officer. Once a project has been discussed, applicants should complete the application form and assemble the full application package, ensuring all required documentation is included. Incomplete submissions will not be considered for evaluation. Confirmation of received applications is provided within two weeks of submission.

Eligible expenses under the program include physical infrastructure improvements like ramps and accessible bathrooms, accessible communication tools such as websites and signage, assistive devices and technologies, transportation solutions including wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and universal design capacity-building activities including training and promotion.

Recipients of the Business ACCESS-Ability Grant are publicly listed annually, providing recognition for businesses that enhance accessibility and contribute to more inclusive communities. By supporting these initiatives, Nova Scotia continues to encourage equal opportunity, accessibility, and the creation of welcoming spaces for all.
