The Legal and Financial Grant provides support to creative practitioners and organisations by improving access to legal and financial expertise and strengthening professional development within Malta’s cultural sector.
The key focus areas include fair working conditions, legal literacy, contractual security, financial sustainability, compliance, professional risk reduction, creative practice development, and support for a more resilient cultural ecosystem.
The Legal and Financial Grant is part of Arts Council Malta’s strategy to nurture creative potential and support its development into professional activity. The grant provides a support structure that helps creative practitioners and organisations address professional, structural, and compliance needs.
This one-time capacity-building grant enables beneficiaries to access qualified legal and financial expertise, navigate contractual, taxation, and regulatory frameworks, and reduce risks related to professional disputes and financial mismanagement.
The grant aims to strengthen fair working conditions in the cultural sector, improve legal awareness and contractual protection, enhance financial sustainability and compliance, and reduce professional risks associated with artistic practice.
Applicants are encouraged to consider the principles outlined in the Charter for the Status of Artists, including artistic freedom, accessibility, recognition of skills, decent socio-economic conditions, non-discrimination, equity, ethical considerations, intellectual property rights, and international labour law.
Eligible applicants include creative professionals and individual artists, entities registered with the Malta Business Registry such as companies, partnerships, foundations, and organisations or associations, registered cooperatives, and voluntary organisations registered with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations that carry out an economic activity within the meaning of Article 107 TFEU.
