The ASCENT PPF Private Sector Support Window provides support to private-sector companies working in distributed renewable energy and clean cooking to strengthen project preparation and access financing.
The focus areas of this programme are distributed renewable energy (DRE), clean cooking, technical assistance, grants, investment readiness training, project preparation, business development activities, and financing support.
The facility aims to address challenges in energy-access markets by supporting companies that need project preparation assistance to attract commercial and catalytic financing.
Supported companies can receive assistance through technical support, grants, investment readiness training, or introductions to investors to help achieve financial close.
The programme provides grants of USD 50,000 to USD 200,000 for project preparation and business development activities directly linked to a financing transaction. Larger requests may be considered subject to enhanced due diligence.
Eligible applicants are private-sector DRE and clean cooking companies registered in one of the eligible ASCENT countries, operating for at least three years with paying customers and meeting the required financial criteria.
Applicants must also have an experienced management team, be engaged with investors or lenders on a financing transaction, and demonstrate a minimum of 20% co-financing through cash or verifiable in-kind contributions.
