The Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs offers non-repayable funding to help micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises create strategies that boost efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainable business growth.
The program focuses on promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, fostering the creation of new firms, promoting innovative and smart economic transformation, enhancing regional ICT connectivity, supporting sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs, and generating job creation through productive investments.
The Internationalisation Strategy is divided into two parts. The first part examines global opportunities, providing a business overview, market analysis, feasibility assessment, and recommendations for market focus. The second part develops a country-specific strategy, including market entry, marketing and sales strategy, financial and operational planning, risk analysis, mitigation measures, and monitoring and evaluation.
The scheme falls under Policy Objective 1 of the SFC2021 Programme 2021–2027, “A more competitive and smarter Europe by promoting innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity,” and addresses Specific Objective RSO1.3, which enhances the sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs.
The Internationalisation Strategy support will remain operational until 31st December 2026, subject to the availability of funds. The initial budget is €500,000, with a maximum grant value of €20,000 per undertaking.
Eligible undertakings include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activities, irrespective of legal form, provided they are properly registered under the applicable law. For Part 1 of the strategy, enterprises must demonstrate active trading for at least one year prior to the application date.
