Deadline Date: March 27, 2026
The Ministry responsible for the management of Union Funds, through its Measures and Support Division, has launched a Grant Scheme aimed at supporting SMEs to enhance their competitiveness and operational efficiency.
This initiative focuses on promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, fostering the creation of new firms, and supporting a more competitive and smarter Europe through innovative economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity. The specific objectives include enhancing sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs and encouraging job creation through productive investments.
Under this Grant Scheme, SMEs can access non-repayable grants in the form of a lump sum of €4,000, representing 80% of eligible costs, to procure business reports from external consultancy service providers who are registered with the Intermediate Body and are independent from the undertaking. These consultancy services are designed to support the decision-making process of SMEs by providing either a process and systems review, aimed at improving operational efficiency, or a business plan addressing proposed investment initiatives, aimed at strengthening competitiveness.
The initial allocated budget for this scheme is €1,350,000, contributing to a total Business Reports for SMEs allocation of €1,500,000. The scheme is operational from 1st January 2024 until 31st December 2026, subject to the availability of funds. Eligible beneficiaries include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activity and legally registered under the applicable laws of Malta. Undertakings without legal personality must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta).
This grant represents a strategic effort to provide SMEs with the necessary tools and expert guidance to optimize their processes, improve competitiveness, and make informed investment decisions, thereby contributing to a smarter and more resilient economy.
