Deadline Date: March 27, 2026
The Measures and Support Division within the Ministry responsible for the management of Union Funds has introduced a Feasibility Study grant scheme aimed at helping enterprises assess the viability and sustainability of their proposed business ideas.
The scheme focuses on the following areas and objectives: Health and Well-being, Sustainable Use of Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Smart Manufacturing, Marine & Maritime Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, Future Digital Technologies; Policy Objective 1: promoting entrepreneurship by facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas and fostering the creation of new firms, including through business incubators; and Specific Objective RSO1.1: developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies (ERDF).
This initiative is designed to support enterprises with the cost of researching their proposed business or new business idea, enabling them to reach firm conclusions and identify the resources required to carry it through successfully. By providing financial assistance for feasibility studies, the scheme encourages a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship, in alignment with Malta’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) 2021-2027.
With an initial allocated budget of €2,000,000, the maximum grant available under this scheme is €100,000 per undertaking. If an enterprise submits multiple applications, the total grant awarded will not exceed this maximum amount. The scheme will remain effective until 31 December 2026, subject to availability of funds, and is open to Micro, Small, Medium-sized, and Small Mid-Cap Enterprises engaged in economic activities.
By supporting feasibility studies, the scheme aims to further increase gross R&D expenditure as a percentage of GDP and stimulate research and innovation capacities during the 2021-2027 programming period, ultimately contributing to a more competitive and smarter economy in Malta.
