CFPs: Support Social Initiatives for Vulnerable Communities (Spain)

Deadline Date: April 09, 2026

The “la Caixa” Foundation is calling for applications from social organizations working in the Region of Murcia to support initiatives that assist people facing social vulnerability with the goal of enhancing their quality of life and promoting equal opportunities.

The initiative aims to promote projects that improve the quality of life of older people by encouraging autonomy, meaningful social participation, and a sense of purpose. They also support actions that reduce social isolation, strengthen relationships, and promote physical and cognitive well-being through community-based and intergenerational approaches.

For people with disabilities, mental health conditions, or illness, the call seeks initiatives that strengthen empowerment, independent living, and daily life support while addressing barriers to social inclusion. They also encourage projects providing psychosocial and community support for individuals and families dealing with complex or chronic illness, as well as initiatives that support caregivers and develop community support networks.

Projects addressing poverty and social inclusion aim to break cycles of poverty by strengthening families and supporting vulnerable children and adolescents. They include socio-educational programs that help prevent school dropout, promote educational success, and provide mentoring and guidance. The call also supports initiatives that improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, unemployment, or social exclusion, as well as programs that address basic needs such as access to healthy food and medical supplies.

The cross-cutting lines of action encourage projects that promote access to quality employment through training, personalized integration pathways, and collaboration with public and private organizations to expand job opportunities. Educational initiatives are also encouraged to bridge inequalities by improving access to learning, supporting families, and promoting digital inclusion among vulnerable populations.

Housing support initiatives are included through temporary residential resources and support services that help individuals achieve independent living. These may include housing support for vulnerable youth, safe accommodation for women facing gender-based violence, and shared living solutions for individuals with limited resources.

The call also promotes intercultural coexistence and social cohesion by encouraging projects that value diversity, foster dialogue between communities, and strengthen shared belonging. Initiatives that support migrants and minority groups, create community participation spaces, and address discrimination and stigmatization are particularly encouraged. Projects may request funding of up to €50,000, with a maximum project duration of 12 months.

Eligible applicants include non-profit entities and social economy organizations whose statutes clearly state social cohesion or social and cultural interest as a core objective. Organizations must have a registered office in the Region of Murcia, be registered in the appropriate administrative registry, possess their own NIF (Tax Identification Number), and have at least one year of activity before the closing date of the call. Branches of parent entities may apply independently if they demonstrate formal and operational autonomy, have their own governance structure and budget, and have operated as a delegation for at least one year.
