Deadline Date: April 03, 2026
The Cardinia Shire Council is seeking applications for its Business Group Support Grant Program to support the business community, stimulate growth and foster economic prosperity.
The program focuses on fostering collaborative business environments and partnerships, supporting the growth and development of local businesses, enhancing the visitor experience in townships while increasing business engagement with the community, increasing economic activity and spending within the local economy, and introducing new initiatives that diversify the local economy.
The grant program aims to empower business and trader associations to implement projects that improve the local economy and business environment while contributing to the council’s strategic priorities. The initiative aligns with the Council Plan 2025–2029 under Strategy Priority 4: Prosperous Economies, which supports productive and employment land growth to strengthen local industries. The program contributes to investment attraction, partnerships and collaboration, community workforce development, the visitor economy, and broader business and industry development.
Two funding categories are available under the program with a combined total funding pool of $30,000. The Strategic Projects Grant offers up to $10,000 per project and supports larger initiatives that can create significant impact for the local business community. These projects may include strategic planning and research, precinct marketing strategies, training and development programs for businesses, workforce development initiatives, business fairs and expos, networking events, workshops, and entrepreneurship support activities.
The Small Projects Grant provides up to $5,000 per project and is designed for smaller initiatives that deliver practical and immediate benefits to business groups. Eligible activities may include developing promotional materials for projects or events, purchasing small equipment needed for project delivery, organising networking events with guest speakers or workshops, engaging consultants for strategic planning or sustainability advice, and projects that strengthen organisational governance and long-term sustainability.
To be eligible, applicants must be a trader or business group operating within Cardinia Shire and the proposed project must also take place within the municipality. They must be registered as an incorporated association or be auspiced by one, hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN), and have public liability insurance coverage of at least $20 million for all aspects of the project. Applicants must also have successfully acquitted any previous grants and must not have outstanding debts to Cardinia Shire Council. Consultation with the relevant council officer is required before submitting an application.
