Deadline Date: April 14, 2026
SustainGov, a mission-driven programme under Impact Innovation, is seeking to transform the public sector by 2035 to promote health, well-being, and sustainability for all residents, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status.
The program emphasizes system-wide collaboration in complex care needs, fostering an inclusive society for all, future-proofing food supply for health and well-being, and redefining the social contract between residents and the public sector.
To achieve its mission, SustainGov highlights the need for the public sector to shift from reactive to proactive approaches, focus on individualized interactions instead of rigid organizational structures, move from process- and indicator-driven assessments to long-term impact measurement, and view individuals as active co-creators rather than passive recipients. These transformations aim to maximize sustainable and effective solutions across society.
Systemverkstan, the initiative supported by SustainGov, is designed to aid the program’s funded projects by developing, testing, and refining methods for system innovation within this context. With a current portfolio of 30 projects and plans to start more annually, Systemverkstan will provide tools and frameworks to ensure these projects achieve maximum impact in line with the program’s objectives.
Eligible applicants include collaborative actors from the public sector, business, civil society, and research organizations, with at least three partners required, including one capable of managing long-term solutions. The project will have a duration of three years, starting on June 16, 2026, and funding of up to 10 million SEK is available, with 7.5 million SEK applied for in the initial call and the remainder requested in early 2027. Systemverkstan will focus on the development and implementation of system innovation support measures and the dissemination of results and solutions to strengthen the public sector’s capacity to drive holistic social and environmental progress.
