Deadline Date: April 14, 2026
The European Commission is requesting proposals to develop safe, viable, and cost-effective innovations that address challenges in organic farming, focusing on agronomic, sustainability, and market-related aspects.
The project aims to enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the organic farming sector by providing new knowledge, innovations, and tools for farmers, advisors, agri-food chain operators, policy-makers, and citizens. The focus is on improving the sustainability of organic farming systems, increasing sector efficiency, and supporting EU regulatory frameworks related to organic farming, biodiversity, zero pollution, and climate policies.
The project is total funding of €12,000,000, with individual proposals receiving around €6,000,000.
The EU recognizes organic farming as a key approach for sustainable agriculture. Proposals should develop innovations that tackle challenges in organic farming, addressing agronomic, sustainability, and market-related issues. These solutions should be tested and validated in diverse pedo-climatic conditions across the EU and Associated Countries, with a focus on both crop and livestock systems.
The project should encourage knowledge exchange among farmers, advisors, and other stakeholders, promoting the adoption of organic practices. Proposals must also support collaboration among research and innovation actors, linking with existing EU initiatives like the Horizon Europe Partnership ‘Agroecology’. Active involvement of farmers and stakeholders is essential to ensure the inclusivity and effectiveness of the solutions.
The goal is to fill existing R&I gaps and contribute to EU policies on sustainability, climate, and biodiversity while improving the organic farming sector’s efficiency and attractiveness.
