The Advancing Clean Technology for Nova Scotia Program is requesting grant applications to support the adoption of clean technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, promote sustainable growth, and enhance value-added agricultural production.
The program focuses on climate change adaptation, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, improved energy efficiency, sustainable and clean growth, and increasing value-added agricultural production in Nova Scotia.
Program funding is offered based on income levels, with maximum funding of $50,000 for incomes of $30,000–$99,999, $100,000 for incomes of $100,000–$249,999, and $150,000 for incomes above $250,000. Financial assistance is available for specific projects, including solar installations over $60,000 at $0.30 per installed watt, battery storage over $60,000 at $300 per kWh, three-phase power installations at 60% of costs, and all other projects over $60,000 at 60% of costs. Projects with eligible expenses under $60,000 may qualify for support through Efficiency Nova Scotia.
Eligible applicants include registered farms, Mi’kmaq conducting farming activities in Mi’kmaw communities, and agri-businesses. The program encourages applications from underrepresented and underserved communities, including women, persons with disabilities, Black and African Nova Scotians, Mi’kmaq and other Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, and racialized groups.
To be eligible, farms must be properly registered under the Farm Registration Act, generate at least $30,000 in annual eligible gross commodity income, be at least 19 years old, and actively farm during the program year. Agri-businesses must represent Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products, generate at least $30,000 in annual eligible income, and demonstrate the value or use of Nova Scotia products and ingredients.
