Deadline Date: April 08, 2026
The ADOPT Grant Round 6 offers farming, growing, and forestry businesses the chance to access funding to test innovative solutions that enhance agricultural practices.
The focus areas of this opportunity include improving productivity, enhancing resilience, and advancing sustainability with progression towards net zero farming.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is investing up to £5 million in on-farm trials and farm experiment projects to help farmers and growers adopt new ideas or solutions. This initiative is part of Defra’s Farming Innovation Programme and is delivered in partnership with Innovate UK. The competition aims to support projects that demonstrate the effectiveness of new approaches in addressing key on-farm challenges or immediate post-farmgate opportunities.
Eligible projects must have total costs between £50,000 and £100,000 and run for a period of 6 to 24 months, with a required start date by 1 September 2026 and completion by 31 August 2028. Lead organisations must be active farming, growing, or forestry businesses based in England and able to demonstrate that they are established commercial enterprises, including sole traders and partnerships. Applicants must also hold an eligible UK bank account and collaborate with at least one other farming, growing, or forestry business based in the UK.
This grant provides a valuable opportunity for businesses to trial innovative solutions, share results, and contribute to the wider adoption of practices that can transform productivity, resilience, and sustainability across the agricultural sector. Businesses that successfully demonstrate the potential of their projects may play a pivotal role in shaping the future of farming in England.
