Deadline Date: March 16, 2026
The Northern Territory Production Finance Program offers financial support to strengthen the local screen industry and promote Territory storytelling.
The program focuses on supporting successful Northern Territory screen businesses, high-profile stories, and generating economic benefits for the Northern Territory.
The program contributes to production finance of screen projects to build the capacity of the Territory screen industry while raising the profile of the Northern Territory and its storytelling. It offers base funding plus incentives designed to support the development and sustainability of Territory production companies and screen practitioners. The program is also open to non-NT production companies under specific circumstances, following prior discussion with Screen Territory.
Funding is available with base amounts up to $20,000 or 10% of the project’s expenditure in the Northern Territory, whichever is less, and can be supplemented by additional incentives based on the program’s criteria up to a maximum of $100,000 in total or 25% of the Northern Territory spend. Applications above these thresholds may be considered with prior endorsement from Screen Territory. Projects seeking funding of $100,000 or more may be considered for recoupable equity investment, allowing participation in gross receipts proportionate to other investors. Completion funding may also be considered to support post-production, provided the work is undertaken in the Northern Territory as far as possible.
Eligibility for the program requires applicants to meet general criteria outlined in the Terms of Trade. Applicants are generally expected to be Northern Territory companies or NT companies in genuine co-production relationships with non-NT companies. Non-NT companies must demonstrate significant benefits to the Northern Territory and contact Screen Territory at least a month before submitting an application. Eligible formats include feature films, adult and children’s drama, narrative comedy such as television series, miniseries, telemovies, web series, and content-rich factual or documentary projects intended for theatrical, television, or web release. Producers must demonstrate that projects will be completed, delivered, and have a confirmed pathway to audience.
