Deadline Date: March 01, 2026
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has issued a call inviting renewable energy project developers from public and private sectors across Latin America to submit proposals for consideration for financing support through IRENA’s Climate Investment Platform (CIP) and Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) platform.
The focus areas, objectives and priorities of this initiative include accelerating renewable project financing, supporting national efforts to decarbonise economies, scaling up renewable energy deployment, ensuring a just energy transition, and providing potential access to financing, investment partnerships and de-risking instruments to accelerate project development.
This call aims to support ongoing efforts by countries in Latin America to expand the use of renewable energy and drive a fair transition to cleaner energy systems. Project developers from eligible countries—including Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela—are invited to participate and submit proposals for potential financing consideration through IRENA’s financing platforms. Selected projects may benefit from access to capital, partnerships with investors, and other forms of financial support intended to help bring renewable energy initiatives to implementation.
To be eligible for the Climate Investment Platform, projects must have progressed beyond the conceptual phase and be aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the national climate action priorities of the host country. The Energy Transition Accelerator Financing platform is focused on medium- to large-scale projects that require significant capital investment and have completed feasibility studies while demonstrating readiness for financing.
