The Fondi is seeking grant applications to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises by providing non-repayable funding to partially finance investments that drive innovation, boost productivity, and promote sustainable growth.
The focus of the scheme is on supporting investment in expansion, diversification, innovation of operations, and initial investments, while contributing to Policy Objective 1 namely promoting a more competitive and smarter Europe through innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity, facilitating entrepreneurship and the economic exploitation of new ideas, reaping the benefits of digitisation for citizens, companies, research organisations, and public authorities, and enhancing sustainable growth, competitiveness, and job creation in small and medium-sized enterprises through productive investments.
The scheme is designed to assist undertakings in directing investment toward activities that strengthen productivity and competitiveness. Support is provided through non-repayable grants that part-finance eligible investments aligned with the objectives of the programme.
The SME Enhance scheme will remain effective until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds. The initial allocated budget for the scheme is €6,000,000.
The minimum grant value available under the scheme is €10,000, while the maximum grant value is €128,400 for eligible actions. This amount includes an additional flat rate of 7 percent to finance indirect costs related to the investment.
Eligible applicants include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in an economic activity, regardless of their legal form, and subject to the exclusions set out under the scheme. For applications submitted under the start-up category, eligible undertakings are start-ups that qualify as micro or small enterprises engaged in an economic activity.
Undertakings that do not have a legal personality acquired through the law applicable to their establishment must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code of the Laws of Malta in order to be considered eligible.
