The European Commission is now accepting applications for Innovation Fund to support and advancing innovative low-carbon technologies and processes that can deliver significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
The targeted solutions are expected to contribute to climate change mitigation in sectors covered by Annex I and Annex III of the ETS Directive 2003/87, while also strengthening sustainable development and Europe’s technological leadership.
The call is backed by a substantial financial commitment. The estimated total available budget is 2.9 billion euros, with the possibility of an increase of up to 20 percent depending on resource availability. Within this framework, specific topics under the call are allocated dedicated budgets, with 300 million euros available for selected areas of focus.
Eligibility is open to a wide range of participants. Applicants, including beneficiaries and affiliated entities, must be public or private legal entities. They may be established in any country worldwide, reflecting the global scope of innovation encouraged under this initiative.
All applicants are required to complete registration in the Participant Register prior to submitting a proposal. In addition, beneficiaries and affiliated entities must undergo validation by the Central Validation Service. This process involves submitting documentation that confirms legal status and country of establishment, ensuring transparency and compliance throughout the application and selection process.
