The Short Animation Development scheme provides financial support for the development of short animated films intended for cinema audiences.
The key focus areas of the scheme include the development of high-quality, diverse, relevant, and bold short animation projects, support for all animation techniques, films for audiences of all ages, figurative and abstract films, and the creation of original and independent short animated films.
The Short Animation Development scheme is designed to encourage the development of short animated films for cinema. Producers can apply for funding to develop projects that meet the objectives of the scheme.
The scheme is open to emerging and experienced animators who want to create high-quality, original, and independent short animated films. It focuses on the creative team, including a producer, director, and/or screenwriter.
The scheme supports different stages of development, including treatment, scenario, storyboard, artwork, and pre-production. A grant of up to €15,000 can be requested for these activities, while script coaching support is available up to a maximum of €2,500.
After the development phase, if a film plan reaches an advanced stage and is ready for detailed creative-technical and production-business work, the producer can submit an application for the realization phase.
Applications can be submitted by independent production companies that are legal entities and are not sole proprietorships or general partnerships. The production company must have been established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland for at least two years and must continuously produce and exploit films and other audiovisual productions.
