The NSW Sustainable Communities Program Early Business and Industry Round is providing funding support for projects that strengthen business sustainability, economic activity and employment opportunities in southern Basin communities of New South Wales.
The focus areas of this program include sustaining and strengthening local businesses, retaining jobs, creating new employment opportunities, improving workforce participation, increasing local economic activity through innovation, skills development, productivity improvements, business growth, job creation, asset activation, supporting local business opportunities, enabling existing businesses and industries to value-add or diversify their product offerings, and developing new and emerging industries with associated businesses and employment opportunities.
The program provides funding for investment into southern Basin communities anticipated to be impacted by the Australian Government’s Voluntary Water Purchase Program. It aims to support businesses, industries and jobs both now and into the future in exposed and vulnerable communities.
Funding amounts under this program vary and are available to organisations located in NSW southern Basin communities. The support is designed to help communities build economic resilience by encouraging sustainable business development and strengthening local industries.
Eligible projects may focus on improving business capacity, supporting innovation, developing workforce skills, increasing productivity, expanding business opportunities and creating employment pathways. The program also supports initiatives that help existing businesses adapt through diversification and the development of new industry opportunities.
