The focus areas of this programme include bilateral exchange and exposure visits for deep-tech startup founders, innovators, and incubation professionals; knowledge-sharing between Indian and UK innovation ecosystems; understanding technology, business, and regulatory environments; collaboration among startups, incubators, academia, research institutions, industry, and investors; collaborative research and development; joint product development; technology transfer; business partnerships; international market access; business-to-business matchmaking; potential investment opportunities; exchange of good practices in incubation management, deep-tech commercialisation, intellectual property management, and startup financing; and developing institutional and mentorship networks between incubators and innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
The programme has been developed under the India–UK partnership on research and innovation to facilitate the exchange of technology-led startups and promote cross-border entrepreneurship between the two countries.
The programme aims to strengthen collaboration among startups, incubators, accelerators, universities, research institutions, industry, and other innovation ecosystem stakeholders in India and the United Kingdom.
The programme is implemented through sector-focused annual cycles. For the first programme cycle, Advanced Manufacturing has been identified as the priority sector, with emphasis on Advanced Battery Manufacturing and Advanced Semiconductors and Electronics Manufacturing.
Programme activities include pre-visit expert orientation, visits to Catapult Centres, incubators, research labs, and startups, B2B networking and collaboration opportunities, and post-visit follow-up and action planning.
The programme is open to deep-tech startups, innovators and founders, early-stage entrepreneurs, and incubation heads and managers.
Eligible incubators include DST-supported and other eligible incubators with at least seven years of experience and a proven track record in technology incubation. Preference may be given to incubators that have supported deep-tech startups, established incubation teams, managed startup funding or support programmes, participated in cross-border or international programmes, and demonstrated capabilities in startup mentoring, technology commercialisation, and ecosystem partnerships.
Representatives nominated by incubators should have experience in the startup or incubation ecosystem, direct experience working with or mentoring technology startups, experience managing programmes or partnerships, and the ability to contribute to bilateral knowledge-sharing and ecosystem development activities.
