The Ignite Program – Stream A Planning provides funding and specialist mentoring to support Northern Territory businesses in investigating and developing innovative ideas for new businesses, products, or services.
The Ignite Program is a Northern Territory Government initiative designed to strengthen the region’s innovation ecosystem by supporting the development and commercialisation of innovative products and services. The program aims to increase investment in local start-ups and contribute to economic growth and industry development within the Territory.
Stream A – Planning specifically assists eligible applicants in investigating, validating, and developing their innovation ideas through access to specialist mentoring and planning support. By working with an approved Innovation Partner, applicants can create an Innovation Project Plan to better understand the commercial potential, risks, market need, and next steps for their innovation.
Funding for Stream A is provided in the form of a voucher valued at up to $2,000 (excluding GST), which is paid directly to the Innovation Partner after services are delivered. The total funding pool for Stream A is $100,000, and support is awarded on a first come, first served basis until funds are exhausted or the program is terminated. Successful recipients have up to three months from the date of voucher issuance to complete and submit their Innovation Project Plan.
Applicants must be legal entities with a valid Australian Business Number, be a Territory Enterprise, and comply with the Department’s General Terms and Conditions. Government agencies, government-owned or controlled bodies, statutory corporations, and educational institutions are not eligible to apply. The proposed innovation must address a market need, involve a new or improved product, service, process, technology, or business model, and have reasonable commercial potential.
