The Bury Community Safety Partnership is inviting Expressions of Interest from eligible organisations to lead the £25,000 Human Libraries Project, a 12-month initiative funded through the MHCLG Community Cohesion Unit to strengthen community cohesion across Bury.
The project focuses on challenging discrimination and prejudice, building empathy and understanding, strengthening community cohesion and resilience, promoting lived-experience storytelling, facilitating meaningful dialogue, embedding trauma-informed practice, advancing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), ensuring accessibility and representation, and supporting partnership working. The total project value is £25,000, with delivery taking place over 12 months.
Eligible applicants include Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations and SMEs with an equalities and inclusion focus that can demonstrate strong connections to Bury. The selected Lead Provider will take responsibility for coordinating and delivering the programme, including recruiting Human Books and facilitators, working with partners, managing safeguarding, overseeing the project budget, and ensuring effective programme delivery across schools, libraries, community spaces, and public sector settings.
The project will deliver live Human Library sessions, produce digital storytelling resources based on lived experiences, develop training materials and facilitator resource packs, and complete an evaluation report at the end of the programme. Throughout the project, the Lead Provider will be responsible for financial management, monitoring progress, collecting evidence of impact, and submitting interim and final reports.
