The Integrated Land Management (ILM) Grant Programme provides grant funding to support farmers, schools, cooperatives, markets, and community-based organizations in adopting sustainable land management and climate-smart agriculture practices across The Bahamas.
The programme focuses on increasing agricultural productivity using sustainable practices, promoting climate resilience and land restoration, strengthening market access and value-chain integration, supporting gender-sensitive and inclusive enterprise development, and building long-term business and financial capacity among beneficiaries.
The ILM Grant Programme is a Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded financing mechanism administered by the Bahamas Development Bank. It is designed to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen market access, enhance climate resilience, and promote inclusive livelihoods by supporting sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management initiatives.
Funding of up to $15,000 is available for eligible individual farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, schools, and youth agricultural programmes. Funding of up to $50,000 is available for eligible cooperatives, producer groups, agro-processors, agricultural marketplaces, and logistics hubs.
Individual farmers and agri-processors applying for funding should be actively engaged in crop or livestock production and be willing to adopt Sustainable Land Management (SLM) practices. Primary, secondary, and vocational institutions with existing or proposed agricultural programmes, including those implementing school gardens, nurseries, or agro-based learning initiatives, are also eligible under the funding category for schools and youth agricultural programmes.
Registered cooperatives and organized producer groups with functional governance structures may apply for higher-value grants. Eligible organizations should be implementing shared infrastructure or market-focused investments and demonstrate collective benefits for their members.
The programme is open to applicants located in Abaco, Andros, Cat Island, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama, Long Island, and New Providence. Applicants must be Bahamian-owned businesses operating within the agriculture, agribusiness, or food production sector and have at least three years of demonstrated experience in farming or agribusiness.
Applicants are required to submit identification, proof of farming activity, proof of land access, a project budget, quotes or estimates for equipment or materials, and a valid business license as part of their application.
