The Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) is providing funding to help small businesses in Western Australia recover from the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Narelle and associated flooding.
The focus areas of this program include disaster recovery, restoring damaged business property, supporting the resumption and continuation of trading, clean-up activities, disposal of damaged goods and materials, safety inspections, essential repairs to business premises and internal fittings, purchase or hire of equipment required to resume operations, and replacement of essential stock.
The funding is available through the Premier’s Natural Disaster Recovery Fund WA. WACOSS is responsible for administering the scheme for eligible small businesses and community service organisations, while Red Cross Australia administers assistance for impacted households.
Eligible small businesses affected by Tropical Cyclone Narelle and/or associated flooding can receive funding of up to $5,000. The financial assistance is intended to contribute towards recovery costs and help businesses resume normal trading as quickly as possible.
The grant can be used for a range of eligible recovery expenses, including equipment and materials needed for clean-up, transporting and disposing of damaged goods and materials, payments for qualified tradespeople to carry out safety inspections, essential repairs to business premises and internal fittings, the purchase or hire of equipment required to restart operations, and the replacement of stock that is essential for the immediate resumption of trading.
The program is open to Western Australian small businesses that have been impacted by Tropical Cyclone Narelle and/or the associated flooding.
