Deadline Date: September 03, 2026
The North East Offshore Wind Innovation and Demonstration Programme supports businesses in developing new technologies for the offshore wind sector through research and development funding.
The key focus areas of the programme include offshore wind innovation, technology development, research and development activities, offshore renewable energy, innovation development projects, and creating potential routes to market through end-user or industrial support.
NEOWIND has been established as a flagship regional initiative in North East England, funded by the North East MSA and delivered by ORE Catapult.
The programme provides funding support for businesses undertaking research and development activities to create new technologies for the offshore wind sector, in line with the thematic priorities established by the NEOWIND Programme Partners.
The Innovation Development funding pot offers grants ranging from £150,000 to £300,000, covering between 25% and 60% of eligible project costs depending on the project type and organisation size.
Projects supported through the programme have a duration of 15 to 21 months.
The competition is open to companies registered in the North East MSA area that are operating in, or have a clear desire to operate in, the offshore renewable energy sector.
The North East MSA area includes Northumberland, North-Tyneside, Newcastle upon Tyne, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland, and County Durham.
Companies working in other supply chain sectors, such as oil and gas, are also encouraged to apply if their proposal demonstrates a clear innovative business case for offshore wind.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to include evidence of support from an end-user or industrial sponsor that demonstrates a potential route to market.
Applications from academic institutions, charities, not-for-profit organisations, public sector organisations, or research and technology organisations will not be accepted.
