The Local Digital Priority Projects funding program is seeking applications to support digital solutions that address local economic, business, and social priorities across South East Queensland.
The key focus areas of the program include improving connectivity and productivity of digital services, building digital capability and inclusion, supporting the growth of high-skilled industries and jobs, digital infrastructure, digital skills development, digital innovation and technology hubs, and partnerships to grow the pipeline of tech talent.
The program invests in place-based digital infrastructure and connectivity improvements to support digital uplift across South East Queensland.
The funding program includes three streams. Stream 1 focuses on improving connectivity and productivity through projects such as public Wi-Fi solutions, facilities and buildings for digital infrastructure, and connectivity upgrades for local governments and businesses.
Stream 2 supports digital capability and inclusion through initiatives such as short-term training to address digital skills shortages and training or mentoring support for small and medium enterprises seeking to improve their digital skills.
Stream 3 supports the growth of high-skilled industries and jobs through digital innovation and technology hubs, support for tech startups establishing a base in South East Queensland, and partnerships between local governments, industry, and the tertiary sector.
A total of $50 million is available under the program, jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government as part of the SEQ City Deal.
Eligible applicants can apply for grants of $1 million to $5 million for digital infrastructure projects under Stream 1, and $100,000 to $1 million for non-infrastructure projects under Stream 2 and Stream 3.
The program is open to local governments, private and public sector entities, not-for-profit entities, community service organisations, regional economic development organisations, and chambers of commerce.
Applicants must be a legal entity, have an active Australian Business Number (ABN), be registered for goods and services tax (GST), have a registered place of business in an eligible location, and meet the specific eligibility criteria for the relevant funding streams.
