Deadline Date: July 16, 2026
The Transportation Sector Pilot Program offers to support R&D and pilot projects that test and validate transportation innovations in real-world environments.
The program focuses on transportation sector innovation, applied research and development, pilot demonstrations, real-world technology validation, commercialization readiness, road congestion reduction, last-mile delivery solutions, demand management systems, public transportation usage enhancement, traffic congestion reduction technologies, road safety improvement, accident reduction technologies, climate change preparedness in transport infrastructure, advanced materials for infrastructure maintenance, adaptation to extreme weather events, reduction of carbon emissions in transport systems, and strengthening resilience and sustainability of transportation systems through innovation.
The Transportation Sector Pilot Program is part of a national initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety. It is designed to support industrial R&D programs that include experimental and demonstration activities in pilot facilities within the transportation sector.
The program aims to advance technologies from mid-stage development toward real-world validation, ensuring that solutions reach a higher level of technological readiness. By the end of the project period, participating companies are expected to achieve at least Technology Readiness Level 6 through successful demonstration in operational environments.
Projects supported under this program must focus on delivering measurable transportation benefits within Israel. These include reducing traffic congestion through innovative systems such as last-mile delivery solutions and demand management tools, as well as technologies that encourage the use of public transportation or redistribute transportation demand more efficiently.
The program also supports innovations aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents. Additional emphasis is placed on climate-related transportation solutions, including infrastructure improvements, advanced construction materials, and technologies designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions such as heat, flooding, and fires.
Further priority is given to technologies that enhance the resilience and adaptation of transportation systems. This includes the development of alternative energy solutions that reduce carbon emissions and improve sustainability in the transport sector.
Eligibility is limited to industrial corporations engaged in transportation-related R&D activities. Projects must be completed within a maximum period of 24 months, with a requirement that at least two-thirds of the budget is dedicated to real-environment demonstration activities.
Applicants must ensure compliance with intellectual property ownership requirements, regulatory conditions, and funding restrictions. The R&D must be conducted primarily in Israel, unless otherwise approved under specific documented conditions, and must not overlap with other funding programs.
