The focus areas of the competition include empowering women entrepreneurs who lead ventures in diverse sectors such as technology, health, and agriculture, encouraging resilience and strong market potential in business models, and providing essential support, resources, and networking opportunities to help ventures thrive amidst uncertainty and change.
The 2026 KPMG Female Founders in Africa Competition is open to female‑owned, for‑profit companies registered in their respective African countries or regions, which have been actively operating for at least one year and are tech‑enabled, tech‑driven, or tech‑led. Applicants must not be majority‑owned by a large corporate, must be able to pitch in English, and must be available to present at country or regional events and at the Finals in 2026 if selected as a finalist. Applicants must also be residents of the African countries in which they apply and be at least 18 years old. The competition seeks founders who have shown the tenacity to navigate challenges, possess a vision for growth, and demonstrate strong market potential.
Participants in the competition gain access to the KPMG mentorship programme, opportunities to connect with investors and deals, enhanced branding and visibility for their startups, and engagement with a community of entrepreneurs and stakeholders. The initiative is designed to provide strategic empowerment, strengthen visibility and networks, and support founder success across regional pitching events and at the Africa Finals.
