Deadline Date: August 31, 2026
The University of Tomorrow is now accepting applications to support innovative space-based solutions that address challenges faced by universities.
The focus areas of this opportunity include space-based applications, satellite data, space technology, university challenges, research, education, infrastructure, climate research, disaster management, resource allocation, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and global connectivity.
Universities are facing increasing challenges due to financial pressures, technological changes, shifting student expectations, and the need for greater inclusivity. Space technologies can support universities by providing solutions for research, education, and infrastructure through the use of satellite imagery, data, GPS, and communication systems.
The opportunity invites businesses to submit early-stage service concepts that address customer needs, demonstrate commercial potential and technical feasibility, and use satellite data or space technology. Selected teams will receive support to conduct feasibility studies over a six-month period.
The European Space Agency provides 75% funding up to €75,000 per selected study on a zero-equity basis. The support helps teams develop business cases, address technical aspects, validate the use of satellite data and space technologies, and engage with users and customers.
Selected companies will also receive technical and commercial guidance, access to networks and partners, and the opportunity to use the ESA brand for their services.
The opportunity is open to companies developing space-enabled services and products. Eligible teams must be based in Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
