Deadline Date: September 29, 2026
The European Commission has launched technological challenge to establish a standardised testing environment for the automatic analysis of tactical situations using fleets of robots, drones and artificial intelligence.
The focus areas, include automatic analysis of tactical situations using fleets of robots and drones with artificial intelligence; addressing the lack of standardised benchmarks and objective evaluation campaigns; organising a technological challenge; setting up a dedicated test environment; enabling objective comparisons between different technological approaches; collecting, annotating and sharing data during field tests; validating system performance based on precise evaluation criteria and an evaluation plan; integrating knowledge while allowing upstream and downstream research activities; and supporting research teams participating through the related call topic.
This call topic responds to the need for structured and comparable evaluation in the field of AI-enabled tactical analysis. By creating a common testing environment, it ensures that different research approaches can be assessed under the same conditions, enabling fair and objective comparison of system capabilities.
The technological challenge will bring together research teams supported through the related call topic and potentially other funding sources. During field tests, data will be systematically collected, annotated and shared to support validation processes and performance assessment.
System performance will be evaluated according to clearly defined criteria and an established evaluation plan, ensuring that results are measurable and comparable. The initiative focuses on integrating knowledge while supporting research actions that may include relevant upstream and downstream activities.
The indicative budget for this topic is EUR 7,000,000 within an overall budget of EUR 30,000,000. Eligible applicants must be legal entities established in EU Member States, including overseas countries and territories, as well as listed EEA countries and countries associated with the EDF Programme. Applicants must have their executive management structure established in eligible countries and must not be subject to control by a non-associated third country or entity, unless approved guarantees are provided by the relevant authority.
