The Circularising Scale Up Project is inviting applications to support medium and large high-waste enterprises in Kenya in transitioning to sustainable circular business models while strengthening gender-inclusive practices and expanding export opportunities.
The programme focuses on circular economy adoption, gender-responsive business practices, women’s employment in green sectors, export readiness, waste reduction, workplace inclusivity, circularity certification, job creation, improved employment conditions, market access and financial linkages, peer learning, and strengthening business capacities in high-waste-producing sectors such as sustainable agriculture and agro-processing, packaging, industry, textile, and service industries.
Up to 30 exporting or export-ready medium to large enterprises generating at least Kes 15,000,000 annually are eligible to apply. Selected companies will benefit from executive training, one-on-one coaching, roadmap development, certification support, market linkages, and peer collaboration opportunities.
Implemented by Bopinc in partnership with the WE4D programme, commissioned by the German Government and co-funded by the IKEA Foundation, the initiative addresses structural and financial barriers faced by medium to large enterprises in transitioning to circular and inclusive business models.
At least 25 companies will receive tailored training and coaching under GIZ’s SME Loop methodology to develop circularity and gender action plans. The project aims to create 100 new jobs, improve conditions for 2,000 workers, support five companies to achieve circularity certification, and reduce 750 tons of waste.
