NFVF Call for Training Provider Grant – 2026 (South Africa)

Deadline Date: March 9, 2026

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has opened its call for submissions for training provider grants aimed at strengthening skills and career opportunities in the South African film industry.

The focus areas of this funding include assisting new entrants to launch sustainable careers through on-the-job and off-the-job training, providing skills development programmes for professionals already working in the film industry, and facilitating short courses and workshops for industry professionals, particularly in fields identified as scarce skills in the State of Skills in the South African Film Industry Research (2016) and highlighted in the NFVF Skills Audit Report.

Eligible applicants must be South African citizens offering accredited curriculum recognized by a SETA or the Department of Higher Education, with clearly defined target audiences, relevant industry skills, and delivery methods. Preference will be given to training providers operating in under-serviced provinces. Trainers must have a proven track record in delivering the proposed programmes, and companies applying must be at least 51% black-owned and managed.

Applicants are required to complete an online application form and provide a detailed budget and financial plan for applications exceeding the R350 000 cap, including confirmed and potential funding sources, ensuring that overhead costs do not exceed 10% of the total budget. Letters of support for confirmed funding, where applicable, are necessary, along with a valid Tax Clearance Certificate or Tax Compliance Status PIN valid for one year, a BBBEE Certificate or sworn affidavit no older than one year, and full or provisional accreditation from MICT SETA or the Department of Higher Education.

The application must also include proof of success rates from previous training initiatives, CVs of the applicant and tutors with proof of appointment, the course curriculum and training outcomes, learner selection criteria, a list of anticipated learner competencies, details of practical training components, post-programme support, assessment and evaluation criteria, a certified copy of the applicant’s ID certified within six months, and company registration documents if applying as a company.
