Deadline Date: March 15, 2026
Eurimages is seeking established audiovisual initiatives to host the Eurimages New Lab Awards, offering recognition and support to innovative filmmakers and visual artists.
The call focuses on promoting and celebrating both established and emerging non-conventional filmmakers and visual artists, giving them greater visibility, and supporting their ongoing careers. It prioritizes innovation, experimentation, and international collaboration, offering two Innovation Awards of €20,000 for projects in development and two Outreach Awards of €30,000 for work-in-progress projects aiming to reach international audiences.
Selected initiatives will present either one Innovation Award or one Outreach Award and are expected to provide visibility to both the Fund and international co-productions. The initiative must be an existing audiovisual structure, such as a festival, market, or lab, and the event can be an existing activity or one specifically adapted or created to host the Eurimages New Lab Awards. Initiatives will sign a one-year partnership agreement with Eurimages, renewable up to three years, without financial compensation.
Eligible initiatives must have at least a two-year track record in selecting innovative projects, host an annual event of at least two days, and be established in a Eurimages member State. Events should attract professionals from at least ten Eurimages member States, demonstrate added value in promoting experimental projects, and have gender equality and sustainability measures in place. The initiative should ensure visibility for award-winning projects, consider emerging talent, and ideally engage young international audiences.
Project selection for the awards requires a minimum of five eligible projects per award category. Projects may be fiction, documentary, or non-narrative, in live action, animation, VR/XR, immersive, or hybrid formats. Innovation Award projects must demonstrate international cooperation, while Outreach Award projects must aim to reach audiences beyond traditional distribution channels. Both awards must consider gender balance, and project submissions should include conceptual notes, audiovisual materials, scripts or treatments, financing plans, and compliance declarations.
