Deadline: 27 January 2025
The STARHAUS 2nd Open Call for Open Innovation and Creativity OIC2 – Arts and Technology Residencies is now open, inviting researchers, innovators, artists, and industry professionals to collaborate with their technology partners.
Together, they aim to redefine service and process concepts, tailoring advanced hardware and software to four targeted use-cases: pet food, fertilizers, beverages, and breakfast cereals.
This is your opportunity to directly contribute to raising the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of innovative solutions while addressing real-world needs. The new concepts will serve as the foundation for developing hardware and software prototypes that align with the user-centred design (UCD) approach, ensuring solutions are intuitive, adaptable, and resonate with target communities. You are encouraged to look beyond current project constraints and envision future and scalable solutions that push technological boundaries.
STARHAUS is an innovative project funded under the Horizon Europe programme, building upon the successes of the previous DIY4U initiative. STARHAUS aims to advance manufacturing capabilities through the development, testing, and validation of eight innovative hardware module prototypes. These prototypes will enhance existing Manufacturing Demonstration Facilities (MDFs) established in the DIY4U project, facilitating the production of personalized fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) in the areas of pet food, fertilizers, beverages, and breakfast cereals.
Objectives
- OIC#2 | Arts and Technology Residencies: Definition of new concepts for services and processes, adapting existing hardware and software to match project use-cases.
Funding Information
- Total allocated budget EUR 100,000 (max 50,000 per beneficiary).
Eligible Activities
- Activities to be funded within the 2nd Open Call should include:
- Co-Design and Concept Development: Participants will engage in a collaborative process with technology partners, leveraging an artistic perspective to contribute creatively to the development of concepts that blend art and technology. This phase will focus on defining scenarios and solutions aligned with the four use-cases, bringing innovative, user-centered approaches to the forefront.
- Prototype Development: Based on the co-developed concepts, participants will design and test hardware or software prototypes. This phase aims to bring the concepts to life, ensuring they are technically feasible and ready for testing.
- Testing: The developed prototypes will be tested in representative communities (e.g., through artistic installations or demonstrations) to gather user feedback. This step ensures that the solutions are relevant, adaptable, and appealing to the target communities.
