The India-Finland Joint Innovation Call 2026 supports collaborative research and development projects focused on sustainable energy solutions.
The program prioritizes sustainable energy and supports cooperation in renewable energy, smart cities, hydrogen technologies, waste management, waste-to-energy solutions, electric vehicles, carbon capture, energy storage, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), Virtual Power Plants (VPP), and heat pump technologies.
The India-Finland Joint Innovation Call 2026 aims to encourage collaborative innovation projects between organizations from India and Finland in the field of sustainable energy. The initiative seeks to advance research and development activities that contribute to cleaner, more efficient, and future-oriented energy systems.
Under the program, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) will provide financial support of up to INR 2.5 crore per project or 50 percent of the Indian project cost, whichever is lower. The funding will be provided as a grant for projects with a maximum duration of 24 months.
Eligible Indian applicants must be companies with the necessary expertise and capability to undertake research and development activities. The Indian Project Lead must be a for-profit company registered under the Indian Companies Act 1956 or 2013 and must be headquartered and operating in India.
At least 51 percent of the Indian Project Lead company must be owned by Indian citizens. The company should possess the required expertise and team capacity to manage the proposed project and lead activities from the Indian side. Where necessary, the lead company may involve additional industry partners.
Limited Liability Partnerships, sole proprietorships, One Person Companies, and partnership firms are not eligible under this program. Companies headquartered and owned outside India, their subsidiaries in India, or Indian companies that are subsidiaries of foreign entities are not eligible to receive funding from DST under this initiative.
