The Rapid Response Grant is seeking applications from eligible community organisations to support urgent community priorities and strengthen organisational capacity.
The grant focuses on improving organisational systems and practices, strengthening resilience and service delivery, responding to urgent community priorities, supporting urgent community needs, enhancing organisational governance, building organisational capacity, improving systems, developing skills, and increasing operational efficiency.
The Rapid Response Grant is delivered as part of the Stronger Communities Program and provides quick financial support to help community groups respond to urgent needs or strengthen the way they operate.
The program includes two funding subcategories. The Urgent Community Needs category supports projects that address current or emerging community needs where timely assistance can make a meaningful difference. The Organisational Capacity Building category supports projects that strengthen governance, organisational capacity, and effectiveness through practical improvements to systems, skills, and efficiencies.
Funding is available from $500 to $3,000. The grant operates as a rolling program, with applications assessed as they are received. Applicants will receive an outcome within six weeks of submitting their application.
Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit incorporated entities or organisations registered under an Act of Parliament. Applicants must hold an active ABN or complete a Statement by a Supplier form, be operating and financially viable, maintain $20 million in Public Liability Insurance, and have a bank account in the name of the legal entity.
Individuals may apply only for conservation activities and must be registered wildlife carers with the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation or an equivalent body, with at least 12 months of active caring experience.
Government and semi-government bodies, schools, education institutions, for-profit businesses, childcare providers, political parties, lobby groups, organisations with more than 20 gaming machines, applicants with outstanding debts or overdue Council grants, organisations already receiving targeted Council funding for the same project, and industry bodies without direct community and economic benefit are not eligible. Religious organisations are eligible only where the project demonstrates broad community benefits primarily outside their membership.
