The United Nations Development Programme is requesting applications to strengthen the capabilities of MSME business owners in Lagos State through targeted capacity building and practical business support.
The focus areas of this assignment include MSME business development, capacity training, curriculum design and development, facilitator deployment, beneficiary engagement, market linkage support, monitoring and evaluation of learning outcomes, contextualised training delivery, baseline needs assessment, MSME ecosystem development in Lagos, and practical business improvement outcomes.
This assignment involves the design and delivery of an eight-month structured training programme for 700 MSME business owners under LSESP Phase 3 in Lagos State. The programme is intended to address identified capacity gaps through demand-driven and context-specific training interventions.
Selected firms will be responsible for developing a comprehensive training curriculum based on findings from focus group discussions and a baseline needs assessment. The curriculum must include structured modules, session plans, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, and assessment tools aligned with MSME needs.
The training programme must be adapted to the varying literacy levels of participants and tailored to priority sectors within the MSME beneficiary group. All training content is required to reflect the practical realities of the Lagos MSME ecosystem.
Implementation also includes beneficiary profiling, delivery of training sessions, and ongoing monitoring of participant learning outcomes. Firms are expected to ensure that the training leads to measurable improvements in business performance.
The assignment also includes facilitating market linkages for MSMEs by connecting them with buyers, financial institutions, and relevant government support programmes. This aims to enhance business opportunities and growth potential for participating enterprises.
Applicants must demonstrate at least five years of experience in MSME business development, enterprise support, or capacity training. They must also show expertise in designing demand-driven training programmes and strong knowledge of the Lagos MSME environment, including market access, financing challenges, and regulatory conditions.
The duration of the assignment is eight months, during which two firms will be selected to train a total of 700 business owners.
