Deadline Date: May 22, 2026
The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is currently accepting applications to support community and social enterprise projects in North East Scotland and Moray that contribute to the transition to net zero while helping diversify the regional economy away from carbon-intensive industries.
The funding supports projects focused on tackling child poverty, reducing fuel poverty, improving climate resilience, restoring nature, promoting biodiversity, protecting native species, supporting vulnerable communities, improving preparedness for extreme weather events, reducing household energy costs through retrofit, and encouraging community engagement in conservation activities.
Up to £2.5 million is available under this funding stream, including £2 million for capital funding and £500,000 for resource funding. Applicants can request between £100,000 and £500,000, and the funding is available for one year only.
Projects must contribute to the transition to net zero in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, or Moray. In addition to supporting environmental and economic transition goals, projects are expected to demonstrate measurable progress linked to their objectives. Applications may include indicators related to climate resilience, biodiversity, nature restoration, child poverty, or fuel poverty. Applicants are also encouraged to outline any expected employment benefits such as job creation or apprenticeship opportunities.
Eligible applications must be led by a registered charity, business, or public sector body. For research and development projects, private sector applicants must demonstrate that the project meets the definition of capitalisation of research and development costs in line with HM Treasury guidance.
