Deadline Date: May 31, 2026
The City of Darwin’s Environment & Climate Change Grants 2026/27 is providing funding for local initiatives that deliver measurable environmental benefits and align with the city’s climate and sustainability priorities.
The program supports activities that contribute to one or more actions under the City of Darwin 2030 Climate Emergency Strategy, Greening Darwin Strategy, and/or Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy. Priority is given to initiatives that create measurable environmental benefits for the Darwin community while promoting innovation and long-term sustainability. Supported activities must clearly demonstrate how the identified strategic actions will be addressed and how outcomes will be measured and evaluated.
Eligible organisations are required to identify the strategic actions their activities will address and explain how the proposed initiative will provide environmental benefits to the Darwin community. Activities funded under the program must be completed within 12 months of the grant being awarded. Moreover, the applicants should be incorporated organisations or be auspiced by an incorporated organisation, demonstrate financial viability, and hold the appropriate insurance, permits, approvals, and licences required for the proposed activities.
The program provides grants ranging from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $50,000. Funding is intended to support approved environmental and climate-related initiatives aligned with the objectives of the City of Darwin’s strategic environmental frameworks.
Applications are assessed based on their contribution to relevant City of Darwin strategies, the strength of the proposed environmental outcomes, the level of innovation and sustainability demonstrated, and the applicant’s ability to measure outcomes effectively. Organisations must clearly outline how strategic actions will be addressed and how community environmental benefits will be achieved. Funded activities are required to be completed within the specified project period of 12 months.
