Apply Now: eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN (Cohort 5)

The eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN: Cohort 5 is now open for applications, inviting civil society organisations and social enterprises in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Viet Nam that works in Community Empowerment, Arts and Culture, Environmental Diversity, or Education to partner with their #YouthVolunteers across ASEAN!

The Programme provides youth (aged 19 to 35) with an experiential and educative learning platform through social volunteerism. They collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds to implement their ideas and advocate solutions to grounded issues in local communities across ASEAN. They delve into an impactful journey to make a tangible, meaningful change among target communities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Objective

  • This application package aims to provide detailed information about the benefit of the partnership, eligibility, submission requirements, the application process, and the deadline of the eYAA: Cohort 5, to the prospective implementing partners–civil society organisations (CSOs) and social enterprises (SEs)–across Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
  • As of date, a total of 31 CSOs have been selected, delivering experiential values to the ASEAN youth volunteers and providing impact to the intended beneficiaries.

Benefits

  • The Programme will provide the selected implementing partners across Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam with the following:
    • Up to ten youth volunteers from ASEAN Member States to run the project with each of the implementing partner.
    • Opportunity to attend the Regional Capacity Building Workshop in Bangkok with all the selected implementing partners and youth volunteers. All costs will be fully covered by the Programme.
    • The opportunity to provide assistance and mentorship to youth volunteers throughout the project implementation.
    • Exposure across ASEAN stakeholders.
    • Candidates may propose project ideas provided that the focus of the project falls under one of the four thematic areas of Community Building/Empowerment, Arts and Culture, Environmental Diversity, and Education.

Funding Information

  • A grant of up to USD 25,000 per project to plan and implement for six months (three months of project preparation and three months of project implementation).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any CSOs and SEs based in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam that meet the eligibility criteria listed below are welcome to apply.
  • Competition for the eYAA is merit-based and open to any CSOs and SEs that are:
    • Registered in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
    • Not affiliated with any political party.
    • Working on issues under one of the thematic areas: Community Building/Empowerment, Arts and Culture, Environmental Diversity, and Education.
    • Experienced in working with local communities in the proposed project areas.
    • Experienced in working with youth and/or managing youth volunteer activities.
    • Able to communicate, both written and spoken, in English.
    • Available to travel to eMpowering-Youths-related events in any ASEAN Member State where the events take place.
    • Committed to participating in the entire series of activities for eYAA, including but not limited to the Online Regional Capacity Building Workshop, Onsite Regional Capacity Building, Project Implementation, Monitoring Visits, and the Closing Event.
    • Able to provide mentoring support to 10 youth volunteers involved in their project, including but not limited to; willing to help youth volunteers reflect on their work; sharing networks/contacts; and willing to give both positive encouragement and critical constructive feedback.
    • Showing active online presence (i.e., being active on social media and/or having a website).
    • Possess a USD bank account from any major bank in Southeast Asia. It must be an organisation’s account. A personal bank account is not acceptable.
