The U.S. Embassy Namibia is inviting organizations to apply to run the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program to help women entrepreneurs in Namibia grow their businesses, overcome challenges, and create a network of women-led businesses.
It will include both in-person and online sessions with women entrepreneurs from Namibia and the U.S., as well as experts. The program will use the DreamBuilder course, an online tool that teaches important business skills.
The goals of the program are to improve business planning, help participants build a network, and provide the skills needed to create successful businesses. Proposals should explain the program, how participants will be recruited, and the Embassy’s role. The budget should cover travel, data for online sessions, and any additional activities.
This program aims to support women entrepreneurs, promote business growth, and help women in Namibia become more economically empowered.
Objectives
- Increase participants understanding of business planning, and scaling up operations
- Build a network of female entrepreneurs that is committed to supporting and promoting relationships that help grow businesses and drive local partnerships, and
- Equip participants with skills and knowledge to build sustainable businesses.
Funding Information
- Award Ceiling: $35,000
- Award Floor: $35,000
- Length of performance period: 08 to 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Private institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
- Public and private educational institutions
- Public International Organizations and Governmental institutions (U.S. organizations should partner with a local organization or expert.)
