Open Call: INMA Africa Emerging Leaders Programme 2025

Deadline: October 03, 2025

The INMA Africa Emerging Leaders programme identifies and rewards the next generation of news media leaders in Africa.

The focus areas are future leader, global training, and recognition.

This initiative is designed for aspiring leaders who see beyond traditional media formats such as print, television, and radio, and envision the future of digitally transformed news brands. It seeks individuals who are passionate about journalism while understanding the need for financial sustainability to ensure influence and impact. The programme will select 25 Africa Emerging Leaders in 2025 as part of its first-ever class.

Selected participants will gain access to three INMA virtual global master classes, virtual modules and recordings, and introductions to the 2025 scholarship class to build peer connections. They will also receive recognition as scholarship recipients, certification upon completion of all modules or the conference, a social badge, membership in the African Emerging Leaders alumni programme, and one year of INMA individual membership.

Eligibility requirements specify that applicants must be employed by a news media organisation in Africa, be under the age of 35, below senior management level, and based in Africa full-time. They must aspire to learn more about the business of news, aim to become future media leaders, and not be part of ownership.

The deadline to apply is October 3, 2025, and class participants will be announced on December 4, 2025.

For more information, visit INMA.
