Deadline Date: January 05, 2026
The W.A. de Vigier Award is one of Switzerland’s most prestigious startup competitions, offering emerging entrepreneurs financial support, mentorship, and nationwide recognition for their innovative ventures.
The focus of the award is to empower responsible leadership, foster innovation, and encourage impactful entrepreneurship by identifying and supporting promising startups that demonstrate strong business potential, technical viability, and societal relevance.
Every year, the W.A. de Vigier Foundation awards prize money up to 5 x CHF 120,000 per startup, providing winners with not only financial backing but also access to a powerful network of investors, alumni, and industry experts.
The selection process begins with the submission of applications, where the startup’s CEO must personally apply and participate. In February, the top 50 startups pitch their ideas in Solothurn, after which 15 are shortlisted to meet the jury at the de Vigier Sommerhaus. From these, a final list of 10 startups will present at the Award Ceremony, where the winners will be announced. Both the Top 50 event and the Award Ceremony are live-streamed, giving participants extensive exposure beyond Swiss borders.
Participation in this programme provides a unique platform for startups to gain recognition, connect with potential investors, and join a supportive alumni community. Even those who do not take home the prize benefit from increased visibility and valuable networking opportunities within Switzerland’s innovation ecosystem.
Eligible applicants must represent a for-profit company incorporated in Switzerland as a GmbH or AG. Non-profit organizations or foundations are not eligible unless a parallel for-profit entity exists. Applicants should typically hold the CEO position or an equivalent strategic leadership role, though exceptions may be made if another co-founder fulfills a similar function. The award primarily supports young entrepreneurs in the early stages of their careers who are committed to their projects full-time and have their registered residence in Switzerland. The W.A. de Vigier Award welcomes applications from all outstanding entrepreneurs, regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, or religion.
