Deadline Date: September 18, 2026
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) has opened a call for Letters of Inquiry for Large Grants to support biodiversity conservation initiatives in eligible Mediterranean Basin countries.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund invites eligible organizations to submit Letters of Inquiry for large grants ranging from US$50,000 to US$180,000. The call is open to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Palestine, and Tunisia.
Eligible applicants include non-governmental organizations, community groups, universities, and small private enterprises. Individuals cannot apply directly and must work with civil society organizations to develop applications.
Organizations applying for funding must have their own bank account and must be authorized under relevant national laws to receive charitable contributions. Government-owned enterprises or institutions may apply only if they meet specific requirements related to legal independence, authority to receive private funds, and lack of sovereign immunity claims.
The grants cannot be used for activities such as purchasing land, involuntary resettlement of people, activities that negatively affect physical cultural resources, or activities that adversely affect Indigenous Peoples without their broad support.
Applicants may submit more than one application if they are under different strategic directions, but CEPF will not award more than one project per organization under this call.
