Deadline Date: August 10, 2026
The City of Greater Geelong’s 2026-27 Creative Commissions Grants support professional artists and creatives to deliver ambitious, large-scale creative projects that inspire communities and strengthen the local creative sector.
The objectives of the Creative Commissions Grants are to increase community and public engagement, interest and connection to high-quality locally developed work, experiences and stories; build the reputation and reach of local artists and creatives; maximise the capacity of mid-career to established artists to work collaboratively and innovate together in the creative domain; and facilitate and encourage the development and connection of partnerships within the municipality, contributing to a positive and strong economic and creative ecosystem.
The grant supports established artists and creatives working across areas including visual arts and craft, music, performing arts, literature and writing, design, screen and media, digital media and creative technology, cultural heritage and collections, and community arts and cultural development.
Applicants can request up to $20,000, with a total funding pool of $80,000 available for the Creative Commissions Grants. Funding is competitive and projects may receive full, partial, or modified support depending on assessment outcomes.
The grants may support creative projects that encourage diverse community participation, cross-artform collaborations, experimental and innovative work, storytelling connected to local places, temporary immersive installations, public experiences, and the use of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
Eligible expenses may include artist and creative fees, auspice fees, contractors, documentation and digital archiving, equipment hire or purchases, inclusion and access costs, marketing and promotion, materials, production costs, professional photography, project-specific insurance, software licences, additional project-related staff wages, and venue hire.
